Author(s): Campbell, Archibald

Edinr5 July 1823
Dear Sir

General Balfour & I have gone
over the New Lease & [¿] papers together with
the additions which we proposed to the original [¿]
along with Mr James Balfour who [¿] him
yesterday & I have much satisfaction in being able
to say that we have all agreed to allow the original
lease to remain with [¿] & to lay before
them the addition or supplement as now [¿] &
which will be forwarded by the nights Mail Coach
We made some alterations on the supplement at
Mr Balfours suggestion which we all think
marks the statements sufficiently correct & Mr
Balfour has written to Wardlaw or at least
promised to write to Wardlaw on this subject by this
nights Post. You will therefore now have
no hesitation in [¿] the supplement before our
Council & in begging them [¿] as soon as
they can [¿] it

The lease which you drew was [¿]
[¿] ated that the old one with the supplement
& had it not been formerly given in & [¿]
upon it probably we should have adopted it with
a few alterations

I am your Obedt & Faithfull Sert
Archd Campbell

P S You will be so good as communicate this to Mr.
Wardlaw, as soon as poſsible as I have not time being obliged to dine
in the Country. Mr Wardlaw leaves London on Wed¬
    nesday by the Steam Boat
